October Video

Hey everyone!

Thank you so much for your continued support in my fight to walk
again! Words can't describe my gratitude. Thank you for your prayers, support, and love!

In October, I have improved significantly. I am able to ride a spin
bike all by myself! It takes me some time to get started, but I can
initiate and continue cycling on my own! Also, while I am crawling,
trainers have added weights for more resistance. Click here to watch.

I have been so thankful that God has been with me throughout this difficult time. I
am also thankful that I have friends and family like you to support my
therapy at Project Walk financially and emotionally. I feel my faith
has grown stronger through this situation and I feel this happened so
that I may realize time is in God's hand and we have to learn to be
patient.

I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween!
And Good luck to everyone taking the SAT on Saturday!!

God Bless and love always,

Jen

Steps to Recovery

This past weekend I went to a Project Walk’s event, Steps to Recovery. At this event, former and current clients demonstrate their walking capabilities. It was very inspirational to see all the clients, who were given less than a 3% chance of ever walking again, actually walking! People were walking with no assistance outside on the parking lot and it was inspirational seeing how there are success stories when people are actually committed to having a full recovery. Additionally, clients who were walking for the first time with the assistance of trainers were showcased inside the Project Walk facility. I hope, no I know, that at the next Project Walk Step to Recovery event, I will be running around.

To see highlights of the event, click here

As for my latest improvements, I have been able to ride a spin bike with no assistance! It feels great! In my opinion, I think this came back so naturally because I used to ride my bike on a daily basis with my brother, Anthony. With every improvement, I am reassured that my goal will come soon! I will post a video of this soon :)

School is... Well it's school can't really say much. Haha! I am still adjusting to the new school but I have not let that come in the way of getting high scores and good grades.

Currently, I am juggling school, therapy, college apps, SAT testing and family and friends. Sometimes it feels so rushed I can't breathe. I am sick of this. I have to admit, some days I fake a smile to get through the day. But thankfully I have a great support system to keep me up. Without you guys I have no idea what I would do. Thank you!

On a brighter note, my cousin, George, is coming this weekend from France and I can't wait!

I hope all of you have a fun yet safe Halloween!

Love and God bless,
Jen

September Video

Hey everyone!
I would like to thank all my supporters and angels for your prayers and donations; without you I would not be improving as much as I am! This is a video of my latest improvements. I can now crawl backwards, sideways, and lock/unlock my knees on the total gym! The muscles are returning but I need to strengthen them. Every time a new improvement comes it gives me hope that I will be walking soon.

In order to keep working at Project Walk, I need your help. Please donate by visiting www.HelpJenWalkAgain.com and become an Angel.

God bless and love always,
Jen

I forgot to mention...

In the blog about the first week of school, I forgot to mention that I am also enrolled in an independent studies program. I have 30 more credits to make up for since the religion class did not transfer when I went to San Dimas. So every week I do different assignments and get one credit a week for it. Also, my therapy hours count as a P.E credit; every 13 hours is one credit. Every Tuesday at 1, I go to Vista School and turn in the assignment and take a quick oral exam and get my next assignment. I have to get those credits to graduate; what else can I do? Also, I am now taking Psychology instead of Spanish 3. So hopefully this school year is a good one and I hope I get better before graduation, better yet before Christmas...

August Video

Hey Everyone!

This is a video of the new workouts I have been trying at Project Walk. I am proud to announce that I have regained some movement in the quad area of my legs. I can bend my legs towards my chest about 25%. I will strengthen this new movement with continued exercise that focus on this location and some other dormant muscles. You can see the new movement in the video. If you would like to donate and assist me in my fight, please visit www.helpjenwalkagain.com. Thank you for your continued support.

First week of school

Hey everyone!
As everyone knows, it is back to school time! Tear* tear* Now the summer fun is over and time to get back into the normal routine.

I am now attending San Dimas High. I seriously miss St. Lucy's and I wish I was allowed to go back. I know life has to go on, but I’d rather be there than at a school where I am new to and don't know anyone. This year was going to be SENIOR year with my friends… worrying about Prom or Homecoming or starting to drive and of course graduation along with grad night… but of course those things aren’t a priority in my mind anymore…

The first day was the hardest; finding the right classrooms and being the 'new girl' all over again. I have to admit I was filled with mixed emotions and just could not grasp the situation-leaving the school where all my friends are to a school I barely know and on top of that... it is socially awkward. Everyone stares... it is one of the hardest things that I have ever had to deal with to this day... but what else can I do?

Anyways, I am taking four class at school- Government, AP Calculus, AP English, and Spanish 3 (well for the first semester I am a Teacher’s Assistant, the second semester is when I actually take it). Since my Religion classes did not transfer as credits for San Dimas, I am taking an additional 30 more credits at home. I get 1 credit a week and do various subjects each week. This is the only way that I can get all the credits to graduate and still do therapy. So my new schedule weekly is....

Monday School 7:30-12 Casa Colina 3-5 pm
Tuesday School 7:30-12 Casa Colina 3-5 pm
Wednesday School 7:30-12 Project Walk 3-6 pm*
Thursday School 7:30-12 Casa Colina 3-5 pm
Friday School 7:30-12 Project Walk 3-6 pm*

*Thank you gain to all my donors and angels who make Project Walk therapy possible.

And with the drive being over an hour and a half each way to Project Walk, I am going to do homework in the car... hope I don't get to dizzy!

I hope everyone had a beautiful, relaxing summer! And I wish everyone to have excellent school year! And to my senior classmates... I CAN'T WAIT TO GRADUATE! LOVE YOU GUYS!!
